Connolly in 11th

Connolly in the 11th

Tom Davis is a tough act to follow, in terms of what he has been able to do to support Northern Virginia's cause on Capitol Hill.

We believe Gerry Connolly is the best option for this district. While he is a Democrat and will certainly not be a mirror voting image of the Republican Davis, Connolly does share many of the qualities that have made Davis an effective leader: he comes from a local government background; he has detailed knowledge of local, national and international issues; and he knows how to work the political system to accomplish his goals.

In addition to his nine years of local government experience, Connolly has a solid background in foreign affairs, both of which should serve him well in Congress.

Republican Keith Fimian should not rule out politics, but he needs some more experience under his belt. In focusing on running a largely anti-Connolly campaign, Fimian has not demonstrated a good working knowledge of many of the key issues facing the country today.

Clearly his business background could be valuable in certain ways, but we get the sense that his learning curve would be very steep. In this critical time in our country's history, we need someone who is up to the task in his first term.
