Tea at Oatlands

Tea at the mansion: Oatlands' teas return this fall with seatings Oct. 17-19, Nov. 6-8, Nov. 13-15, Nov. 20-22 and Nov. 28-30. Teas are held in the historic Oatlands Carriage House.

Tea seatings are at 1 p.m. and the cost is $24.95, plus tax. Reservations are necessary, and teas sell out early.

The mansion and gardens also are open for fall tours. The mansion is open for touring 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sundays. House tours are conducted on the hour. The tour cost is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $7 for students and free for children 5 and younger.

Oatlands, a National Trust Historic Site, is a 360-acre estate featuring a stately Greek revival mansion, magnificent formal terraced garden and 19th-century dependencies. It is 6 miles south of Leesburg on U.S. 15.

Oatlands will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The property closes for the winter season beginning Dec. 31.
