Starr speaks to McLean chamber
Alice Starr, former president of the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce, CEO of Starr Strategies and prominent McLean community activist, was the featured speaker at the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce’s TML Copiers Power Networking Luncheon Oct. 2 at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar.
According to Chamber President Matt Wallace, Starr discussed her involvement in and the general history of the McLean Chamber’s growth from a business and professionals association without a staff or office location into a top 20 ranked chamber and thriving advocacy, referral and networking organization representing hundreds of businesses in the area.
Starr focused her presentation on the many public-private partnerships that the Chamber created between businesses, nonprofits and local government leaders, specifically citing former county supervisors Stu Mendelsohn and Joan DuBois.
The chamber has participated in some McLean beautification projects in the past, such as building the gazebo in McLean Central Park, and will likely play a key role in ongoing revitalization efforts in downtown McLean, Starr said.
