Police investigate Franconia homicide

A 51-year-old man is in custody, charged in a homicide that occurred on Saturday, Nov. 15. Police were called to the 5400 block of Franconia Road around 7:02 p.m. for a shooting. Arriving officers located the victim, Morton Fuchs, 43, of no fixed address, lying on the ground outside a home. Fuchs was deceased with an apparent gunshot wound to his midsection.

Detectives developed a suspect and determined he was an acquaintance of the victim. The two men were reportedly involved in an altercation just prior to the shooting. Detectives, patrol officers, K9 and SWAT team members searched the area and located the suspect hiding in a shed nearby.

James Becker, 51, of no fixed address, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with one count of murder. This is the 14th homicide in Fairfax County this year.
